Board troubleshooting
Why no Wordle words match your clues
A zero-result board usually means one tile color was entered incorrectly. The helper checks all rows together, so one wrong gray, yellow, or green tile can remove every otherwise valid word.

1. Finish every tile color
A five-letter row is not used until all five tiles have a gray, yellow, or green status. If the result card says Finish colors, tap the uncolored tiles until they match the original board.
2. Check green positions across rows
A green letter is fixed. If position two is green A in one row, another completed row cannot make a different letter green in position two. The helper identifies the conflicting position when this happens.
3. Recheck repeated letters first
Duplicate letters are the most common source of confusing constraints. If a guess contains two copies of a letter and only one is yellow or green, the gray copy can mean the answer contains exactly one copy—not zero.
For example, if one L is green and a second L is gray, the answer still contains an L, but probably only one. Read the repeated-letter guide for worked examples.
4. Distinguish yellow from green
Yellow means the letter is required but cannot stay in that position. Green means it is required in that exact position. Accidentally swapping those states can make a required letter have nowhere left to go.
5. Confirm the game and word length
This helper is built for five-letter English Wordle clues. Results from a different language, longer-word variant, themed clone, or custom dictionary may be valid in that game but absent from this 8,636-word dictionary.
If the colors still look correct
- Compare the oldest completed row with the original board.
- Review every guess containing a repeated letter.
- Check all green positions across later rows.
- Use Reset colors and re-enter the colors row by row.
The solver does not silently invent a candidate when the clues produce zero matches. It keeps the contradiction visible so you can correct the board.
